Astrology Services

Bill Priest has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Philosophy from McGill University in Montreal. He has spent most of his life in the software development and application industry in the United States where he was born. For five years before that, he taught English at the high school level. In 1972 he began his software career, and in that same year he took up astrology and has studied and practiced that art for many clients since.

While software has occupied much of his time over the past 35+ years, his great passions have been astrology and poetry. Bill mixes the two passions with every reading he does by using metaphor as the connecting point between the planets and a client’s life. It is the requisite balance between the cosmic world and a client’s management of a life that infuses Bill’s approach.

I have several reading and counseling services to offer, including initial chart construction and reading, counseling on specific issues (such as money, relationships or healing), reading of planetary transits, looks into the future, and more. I work hard to speak with you in language that is not too technical, unless you are specifically interested in astrological techniques.

My special emphasis in a reading is on discovering the symbolic events, people, objects or animals that show up in your life and that allow you to see your life's larger meaning. Making the connection between the signs, planets and houses on the one hand and the symbols that make up your life is the key to a well-guided life. I also must say that I always learn from these counseling sessions -- about clients, about astrology, and most of all about the resilience and passion of the human heart.

I have taught astrology classes several times in my career and have enjoyed the experience immensely. As a former secondary school teacher, I am comfortable in the classroom. Currently (Winter 2009) I am offering an introductory astrology course at Nauset Community Education in Orleans, MA., and I hope to continue my association with them in the future.

My classroom approach is to do the charts of each student and use them as a focal point for discussion during the class. This allows each student to see how astrology works in other people's lives and makes for lively discussion. I also use handouts liberally and spend some time looking at one famous person's chart using a screen projector.

My approaches to astrology charts are different from many traditional astrologers, who believe that the planets indicate a "fate" for you and there's little you can do about it. I believe that a horoscope is not 2-dimensional, but 3-dimensional, the third dimension being your ability to move beyond your history and change the patterns that do not work for your life. This is sometimes referred to as evolutionary astrology.

I also include in my readings other non-traditional "points" in the chart such as the Moon's North and South Nodes, Chiron, and 4 asteroids (Vesta, Juno, Ceres & Pallas.) I'm currently trying to integrate some star points like galaxy clusters and centers into my charts as well --- a work in progress.

I have a whole bibliography of recommended readings for astrology. These are books of my favorite astrology authors, including Steven Forrest, Liz Green, Demetra George, Richard Tarnas, Caroline Casey, and several others.

If you are a serious student of astrology, you cannot ignore the science of astronomy and the exceptional progress that has been made with the Hubble telescope and new information in astrophysics. I confess that I'm having a hard time staying abreast of developments. But we astrologers add an important element to the study of the universe --- searching for the meaning that emerges from our new information. I add some readings that may help with this bold venture.
